I met May and Ken through a referral from Bryan and Victoria. She sent me an inquiry for a date I was already booked for, but I really wanted to meet her to give her a few tips on choosing the right photographer.

We sat down in a Starbucks where we could barely scrape together three seats to sit down and talk. I told her what she should to pay attention for when looking for a photographer. There are so many options out there when looking for a photog that it’s one of the hardest things to decide on.

Feeling comfortable is one of the most importation things when looking for a photographer

May really LOVED my style of photography and wanted to work together to create some amazing images – eventhough i was booked for her date. So we set a date.

So the day before our shoot, Ken got an eye infection and so we had to reschedule. Fortunately, the date was the day they were getting their papers signed (ie. getting married). It was small and very personal. They did not want to shove 20 hours of plans into a 14 hour day, so they decided to keep the wedding ceremony small. Which I kind of like as the ceremony was only with very close family and friends.

After their ceremony, we went up to the rooftop to shoot some images on a VERY windy day, then hiked to Centre Island to shoot more during sunset!

What a great day, and I’m so happy for you May and Ken! Have fun during your reception tomorrow!

Wow! What a day with May and Ken, yesterday! We pushed through the busy streets during Nuit Blanche and hopped on a ferry to Toronto Island to capture some amazing images while we raced against the sun to get to the beach.

I originally had a lot to say about our fun time with Amy and Adam last week during our engagement session. Amy and I even talked about it in the car on the way back home – how she was worried about all the embarssing stories I would include along with this post. We got lost getting to the vineyard, got chased away by a dog, coudn’t find a place to pee, ate some grapes, almost lost a tripod, and ate WAY too much icecream.

After reviewing this engagment session, I don’t want to fill it up with words, I just want to showcase our really awesome day at Cave Spring Vineyard, Cave Spring Cellars, and Inn-on-the-Twenty in Jordan, Ontario.

You’ll see all these places again in October when Amy and Adam get married!

After 3 iPhone’s and a GPS that gave us the wrong directions (the address we got from the wedding website was also partially to blame) we finally made it to our destination: Cave Spring Vineyard!

We had awesome weather, an equally beautiful location, and a brand new Nikon 24mm f 3.5 PC-E lens. So in the words of Adam: Everything that comes out of your camera is awesome!

It was hard to choose a photo from today’s shoot, so I narrowed it down to two and tossed a coin!

I’m in the process of editing Lauren and Chris’ wedding photos from last weekends wedding and I just finished rendering this image from their portrait session at the Riverwood Conservatory Mississauga.

Showing this image at 935 x 350px resolution doesn’t do this photo justice as the fully rendered photo is approx. 25,000 x 10,000px in size (thats 250MP)!!!

Full featured wedding to follow.

One of the benefits of my unlimited package is that anything can happen – even at 1:30am after all the guests had left for the night.

While walking back to the car in the columbus centre toronto parking lot, we passed by this spot which I thought would be perfect to test out my new $1.50 red lightsaber for light painting (or as Chris calls it “fairy dancing”).

After their proposal, and their first engagement session, this second engagement session was more for myself than for them. When speaking to them about their upcoming wedding, they were still a little nervous about looking tense in front of the camera on their wedding day. So it was my idea to go out again and get more facetime in front of the camera closer to their wedding day. Why did I do it? It’s because I LOVE LOVE LOVE Alicia and Anderson to death! It’s my most anticipated wedding of 2011, my last wedding of 2011, and the only wedding that I’m not shooting this year :)

I have known Kerrie for about 10 years, having suffered through Civil Engineering with her at University of Toronto. Being in an intense program like that brought our class together. It was almost impossible to go through 4 years without making a few friends along the way, there’s just too much lecture time and not enough time to get everything done by yourself. Our entire class became very close by 4th year and we met up several times a year to catch up with each other after graduation.

As consulting engineering is a pretty demanding field, we slowly grew apart and didn’t see each other for years after we graduated. When she called me up to ask if I would be her wedding photographer, I was thrilled!

Their ceremony was at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, and wedding reception was at Liberty Grande. We also stopped by University of Toronto for some wedding portraits in and around Kings College Circle.

I love it when clients come up with ideas of where they want to shoot. Sometimes there’s a meaning behind the location, such as the place where they first met or the high school they spent the first years of their lives as a couple. Other times it’s just a great location.

So when Ming and Stef decided on their location, we were headed to the Music Garden. Great location as it is up against the lake with boats sailing by, walking path through the gardens, and some cool grass stairs to a wireframe dome.

The location was all set up until a few days before the engagement shoot. Stef called and said he wanted to squeeze in The EX for some nighttime photography since it was right by their house.

Thats the one thing I love about engagement shoots in Toronto, so many distinct locations in such a short distance.

Yes, love is silent…except in the case of Hedyeh and Ali, who got engaged only a few weeks before they hosted this rockin’ loud engagement party at the Persian Palace! So loud that the bass was pumping and the light effects were in full force before dinner was even served.

I really feel like blogging something, so here’s another one from our engagement session with Alicia and Anderson on the weekend.

Just one from our engagement session with Anderson and Alicia.

If the first thing you noticed was the barrel distortion from my Nikon 70-200mm f2.8, then you must be a photographer!
